That’s me sitting in the John Day river on the Stanley Ranch with a bottle of scotch and a cigar.  Now is that living or what!

Marlene Stanley is the owner of a magnificent ranch here in the high country of central Oregon.  It is a paradise for her and her family, her horses as well as the many wild animals that live here.  While Marlene is caring and generous toward the wildlife, there is a little hunting going on here.  Wherever there are hunters, there must be some one to cook—that’s where I come in.  While the Campcook cookbook deals largely with wild game, there are lots of other categories as well– you just have to check it out.

These recipes are not all developed by me. This is a collection from Marlene, family, friends and many others too numerous to mention, just understand that I do pay them respect.  Good cooking takes good ingredients and time, don’t cut it short.  Along the way you’ll notice the inclusion of a little libation for “cookie”—that would be me, in your kitchen, you enjoy the process.  Always read every recipe all the way through before starting as I don’t always tell you everything up front (sneaky huh?

The first Campcook cookbook was written nearly 10 years ago followed by a second edition in 2005 which saw two separate printings.  Now in 2012 the history of the printed “Campcook Cookbook” comes to an end with its future being “on line”.  This will allow wider distribution and make it easier for me to maintain and update on a regular basis.  Here under Campcook you will find a list of updates as they occur in the future.  Should you have a printed copy of the Campcook hang on to it– I’m sure it will be worth millions some day!
